Public Sector - CMAS
The California Multiple Awards Schedules ("CMAS") program was established in 1994. The concept behind the program was to bring, to all the municipal entities in the State of California, products and services at a most favored price. The plan also offered substantial savings because it eliminated the expenses associated with preparing, letting, administering and awarding a formal, bid procurement.
The CMAS contracts are established from already existing, competitively assessed and cost compared multiple award contracts. Normally, these products, services and prices are primarily from Federal General Services Administration ("GSA") program. To these agreements, the State adds California contract terms and conditions, procurement codes and policies and establishes a totally independent contract.
To take advantage of the favored pricing under these contracts, the municipal entity must pay an administrative fee (less than 2% of the purchase price) to the California Department of General Services. However, because Sun Wireless in certified as a California small business (reference #0038797), this expense is waived.
